Announcement

We want to advise you to check your inbox on January 1, 2011. A new drabble arc will begin that was also a FGB piece. It's called Eye Candy.

We look forward to sharing those boys with you every day... for the next year. Yes, you heard right. A drabble a day might not keep the doctor away, but it should hopefully at least bring a smile (and possibly a tear or two) to your day. We will try our best to post early in the morning (well, if you're living on PST time at least), but there may be days posts won't go up until the early evening.

The FGB pieces that were won by Team Whitlock-Masen (a one-shot that's turned into a chapter fic and the two AXO chapters) are still in the works. They will be sent to the members of Team WM first and then posted here in due time. Until then, we trust you will enjoy some candy.

After all, we sweetened the deal by quite a bit ;-)

Update

As most of you know, real life has been kicking both of us hard all summer. Because of that – and the fact that SorceressCirce goes back to work the day after tomorrow – we have had to come to a tough decision regarding our posting schedule.

Keeping up with weekly updates is just not possible for us right now, so in the interest of our readers, we want to keep at least one story updating regularly. Marked was our first story and is by far our most ambitious. It will continue to post every other week, starting Sunday, August 8th.

We will still be working on Be Careful What You Wish For, and it will still update. It just won't be on a set schedule. We will work on it as life allows, and we fully intend to see the story through to the end. We would continue to post both of them as we have been, but clearly, that can't happen at the moment. If life lets up, and we feel we can handle the regular updates on both stories again, we will go back to it.

We thank you for always supporting us and for being so understanding. The next chapter of Wish is almost finished and could post sometime this week. If not, we'll see you next Sunday for Marked!

A Housekeeping Notice

Hey everyone. Just a quick note to let you all know that Whitlock-Masen will not update again until August 1st. Between RL and the commitment to FGB, we're both stretched very thin with precious little time or brainfunction left to write.
We hate to do this, but we have to give life a priority over fiction - something we know you'll understand. We will update with a chapter of Wish (you know, the talk?), and then hopefully we'll be back on schedule again after that, barring any further surprises. We'll continue to write, but rather than adding unneeded pressure on ourselves or our lovely beta-team, we're suspending Marked & Wish for a few weeks.

Thank you for your continued love and support. It truly means the world to us both, and it's the reason why we keep on going.

Giving Back - Nashville and eBook

Whitlock-Masen recently wrote an original short story for the eBook benefit organized by DefinatelyStaying to benefit the victims of hate and violence through causes like the Matthew Shepard Foundation, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Rainbow World Fund. Over 25 authors have contributed stories to the eBook, which promises to be a fantastic read for an amazing cause. If you'd like to help out and receive a copy of the eBook, please visit the website to find out how. Copies of the eBook will be sent out on Memorial Day weekend, so act quickly - and thank you SO much for your support!

Just to whet your appetite, here's a little teaser from our contribution:

I turned the pages, watching as we grew up right before my eyes. We put on weight and lost it. Our hair grew and was cropped short before growing long again. There were even pictures of Jeff with that terrible mustache he’d sported for about a year before I’d finally convinced him to shave it. Despite the many different looks and changing fashions, though, the one thing that had stayed the same over the last eighteen years was the way we looked at each other.

I smiled reflexively as I saw us gazing into each others’ eyes. Jeff’s hand was often on my knee, or mine was reaching out to brush his hair from his forehead. We were nearly always touching, some small contact to remind each other of the love we shared. We’d been only twenty when we went on our first date, but we’d known from the start that we were meant to be together. We were just a perfect fit – in every way.

Jeff had been the first man I’d ever brought home – the only man – and it had taken some time for my parents to come to terms with my being gay. Jeff’s family had known for much longer, as he’d had boyfriends as early as high school, but in the end, both sides of our family supported us. There were pictures of them sprinkled throughout, opening presents at Christmas and shooting off fireworks on the Fourth of July. We were blessed to have them; I knew too many men who were not nearly so lucky, and I was thankful every day of our lives that our families were so involved.

Come on...you know you want to know more about Tim and Jeff, right? And it's for a great cause!

In addition to the eBook, we have also signed up to take part in the Fics for Nashville compilation to help raise money for the victims of flooding in Tennessee. Dozens of authors are contributing stories and poems to this effort, which will be compiled and sent out to those who donate. Please see the website for a wealth of information, including how to donate, where to send your receipt, how to sign up if you'd like to contribute a story, and even some pictures and videos of the flood damage. Many authors have even posted teasers of what they will be writing! If you have the means, please considering donating to this worthy cause - and perhaps contribute your own writing as well!

Brief Delay in Posting

Just giving a head’s up. SorceressCirce and I are both suffering from a bad case of Life-Interruptus, so there won’t be any updates this week. Next week we’ll update Marked, the week after Wish, so basically we’re just skipping a week.

Sorry for the delay, folks.

Be Careful What You Wish For Recommended ByTwiSlash Unveiled!

Whenever our names are mentioned, it is most often for our first collaboration, Marked. Imagine our surprise and delight when TwiSlash Unveiled recommended our second story, "Be Careful What You Wish For"! We know the pairing is not what most people expect, but so far, we've yet to have anyone who gave it a chance tell us that they didn't like it.

One of those people who was initially unsure was Captain Jezebel, who wrote the beautiful recommendation that was published today. Thank you SO much for the kind words and for giving our boys a chance. We love you, Jezzy!

Marked Recommended by the Fictionators!

As if a beautiful rec on one fanfiction site wasn't enough, the Fictionators also recommended Marked today! We are beside ourselves and have been celebrating and kicking and squealing all day long.

Thank you SO much, Subtlepen and SnowWhiteHeart, for the seriously stunning recommendations! Your words mean so much to us, and we are so glad you are enjoying the story and want to share it with others!

By the way, SWH - I was exactly like you with the whole "slash" thing ;) I'm really happy you decided to give it a shot! -SC

Marked Recommended by the Perv Pack!

The last thing we expected when we woke up this morning was to find a recommendation on the Perv Pack's Smut Shack for Marked! We have been beside ourselves, squealing and celebrating, and we cannot thank the wonderful ladies of the Perv Pack (and their honorary pervs) enough!

Our lovely beta EchoesOfTwilight really touched us with her kind words in the guest rec, and it was followed up by comments from the other ladies that made us squeal and kick (yes, Nae was really kicking on her bed as she read and tried to hide her squees from her husband). If you get a chance, drop by and see what they all had to say - and leave them/us some love as well :)

Thanks again!

Contests

We wanted to let you know about two contests of special interest to us right now.

First up is the FML Contest in which participants were given a unique prompt from the FML website to base their fic on. The prompt can be used in pretty much any way, and so far the entries range from heart-breaking to hilarious. Naelany is a judge for this contest, while SorceressCirce is helping host it. Entries are due by February 15th, and voting starts February 18th. Over 150 prompts were given out, and the entries have started pouring in. Check out the contest community to read the stories already submitted and be sure to vote for your favorites!

Next is the TwiSlash Unveiled Slash Contest, which is open for entries until February 28th. While Whitlock-Masen loves all sorts of pervy things, we have to admit that male-male slash is our favorite, so we are beyond excited for this contest. Visit the contest page to learn how to submit your entries and to read the others! This one is anonymous, so you'll never know if one of us might or might not have entered...

Giving Back

Whitlock-Masen recently participated in the Support Stacie Vampire Author Auction to help out a fellow fanfiction author who was diagnosed with cancer and left without insurance. We are proud to have raised $465 as a collaboration while Naelany raised an additional $150!

The stories for the auction winners are currently underway - look for them soon! Whitlock-Masen will be writing three stories total - one for the auction winner, amymorgan, one for a generous donor who prefers to remain anonymous, and then a special "thank you" fic we offered if our total went over $200 - which it clearly did! In addition, Naelany will be writing two stories for her auction winners - one for Silvertwi and SorceressCirce *clears throat* and another for her runner-up, DefinatelyStaying. We are so excited to have been able to help Stacie, and we want to thank everyone who bid in the auction - whether it was on us or not ;)

Naelany and SorceressCirce both also took part in the Twifans for Haiti relief effort organized by MsKathy. The fandom raised over $75,000 in donations to various charities to help out in Haiti. We couldn't be more proud!
